My name is Whitney Gilchrist. From 2013-2015, I taught high school English and studied education with Mississippi Teacher Corps.
In June of 2015, I began an independent road trip with the intention of understanding my roots — spiritual, blood, and land. Starting from my home state of Mississippi, I drove counter-clockwise around the United States, connecting the dots between national parks and the homes of friends and cousins. I started this blog to document that trip — to relate stories of moments spent as a participant-observer and share conversations with friends and strangers.
As of the summer of 2016, I live in Tallahassee, Florida and am pursuing an MFA degree in fiction writing at Florida State University. I keep a personal website with other work here.
